Please note that as we are a foster-based rescue we do not have kennels and therefore do not require volunteers to help walk/feed/clean out the dogs.
Events & fundraising
We always need people who can help with our various fundraisers such as jumble sales, occasional street collections, supermarket bag packing or one-off stalls at show and events which are often a full day’s commitment.
When dogs are allowed at an event, we need people who can transport the dogs from their foster homes to the event, spend the day with them by our stall and walk them around the venue, talking to potential new owners and raising awareness of SNDogs.
We need to know if homes are suitable for our dogs and need people who can respond quickly to homecheck requests local to them. It helps if you are an experienced dog owner but SNDogs can provide full training.
You will be responsible for making sure that the home is a safe, secure and suitable environment for a dog to live in, as well as detailing the family’s situation (ages of children, experience with dogs, other dogs in the house, other pets in the house, etc).
Sometimes we agree to take in a needy dog that isn’t local to us. In these instances, we rely on volunteers with cars to collect the dog and drive it to it’s new Swindon/Wiltshire based foster home.
Collections are often required at short notice, especially if a dog is unwell or in a dangerous situation.
Handmade crafts / Baking
We have a Facebook group that’s full of “crafty” volunteers who have kindly donated their handmade creations for us to sell to raise funds. Donations may be saved up to be sold at an event, for example a Christmas craft fayre, or raffled off / sold online.
We sometimes require homemade cakes / biscuits / etc. to sell at events. If you are a keen baker, please get in touch!
