*UPDATE* Candy has come on leaps and bounds and is doing very well, She loves to run and play. She tells you when she needs to go out and when she thinks she should be feed! Lol. She is full of kisses and cuddles.

She does need a little more attention than most dogs, But she loves the company of other dogs. We would like to find her a home with another dog,But treats will need to be restricted, fine with cats.

No children due to the importance of being feed right and not getting titbits.

She currently wears a jumper so she doesn’t need to burn any fat as she really needs to gain weight.

She needs to be fed little and often, so really needs someone around quite a bit.

Candy is looking for a very special forever home. She is a young female dog who has mega oesophagus, this means that the food she eats does not progress correctly into the stomach, so she needs to not eat too much in one go and cannot have access to other foods.

If she does you may have to be up all night with her to make sure she safely brings up the food that she cannot digest. If she is not kept a very close eye on she is at risk of aspiration pneumonia.

When she was first rescued she already had pneumonia.

Candy was found at the end of September starving to death close to the village of Pedralba. She was taken to the refuge. She kept vomiting and coughing so was taken to the local vet where they diagnosed her mega oesophagus.

She was 8kg when we found her and is now 14kgs.

She is a little beauty and very mischievous.

This dog has been reserved, which means that they will be meeting people so that a trial can take place. You can still apply for adoption, however please note that if the trial period is successful then Candy will no longer be available to be rehomed.

If you have already been homechecked you will not need to fill out a new application, just email and let us know. Homes already checked will get priority.

Adoption fee is £200 per dog unless otherwise agreed. This is payable at the time you take a dog on a two-week trial.
